Following the completion of the adjacent Forensic Training College, the practice was asked to undertake the extensive refurbishment of this Grade II Listed building set within a "Protected Landscape" overlooking the Wear Valley to provide 2500sqm of additional offices and conference facilities.

The interiors were remodelled to accommodate new lifts, escape stair and toilets allowing full access and increased occupancy whilst maintaining all existing features within the principal rooms.

The project was completed on time and within budget, achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating and won a Durham Environmental Award.

Project value - £2.2 million.
