This refurbishment of a redundant ward to provided a bespoke research department including offices and conference facilities was completed within the operating hospital. The existing ceilings were stripped out to open up the space and reveal the timber trussed roof which with new windows and roof lights providing natural ventilation.

The building supports a world class research unit based at Liverpool Broad Green Hospital. Following the success of this project the client has asked the practice to undertake a feasibility stuies for the adjacent empty ward to provide a Learning and Development Centre.
